It is a rare genetic disease that is one of the leading causes of deafblindness and it has three variants. It is characterized by the combination of deafness or hearing impairment and gradual loss of vision, which can also be accompanied by problems of balance. The visual impairment is due to a condition called retinitis pigmentosa, which is a progressive degeneration of the retina and its ability to send images to the brain. Retinitis pigmentosa is manifested initially with night blindness and tunnel vision. In the terminal phase you may also occur the loss of central vision.
He is the founder of NoisyVsion. Born in Padua in 1978. He graduated in Design at the Politecnico di Milano. He currently lives in Berlin.
Diagnosed with Usher Syndrome at the age of 16, Dario has a huge interest in travelling. He lives of adventures and seeks to address all the challenges that life reserves in a positive light.
He spent a year in Australia and New Zealand and when he returned from that trip he published “One year in eight hours“. He walked the Camino de Santiago, and this experience inspired the book “Slow Time“.
He traveled on a ferrocement vessel for nearly two years from Cape Town to Havana, sailing across the Atlantic Ocean and along the coasts of Brazil and the Caribbean islands.

His recent trips to Nepal and Peru have taken him to more than 5000 meters altitude, at the Everest Base Camp and at the feet of Mount Salkantay, on the Inca way to Machu Picchu.
An informative and cultural project that aims to spread the knowledge of the Usher syndrome and sensory disabilities . It aims to able to raise awareness about the limits that these conditions involve in everyday life, but also to suggest the most effective strategies to overcome them.
